BODY TUB RESTORATION - extreme makeover!

Starting with cutting the rot out and back to good metal. This is done stage by stage so that the geometric and dimensional qualities of the tub are retained - In short, if all the standard parts are to fit the rebuilt shell it has to be accurate and it needs to look the part.
Floor panel clamped to check for fit |
Rear corner under storage box, cut to let in new panels |

Here the back panel is shown from the inside - the replacement panels are a reasonably good fit but do require clamping in many places to keep the position true for welding.

Inside the rear storage box - the storage box base has yet to be welded in - you can see the back panel holes for the rear left light and military trailer socket. We carefully spot weld the seemed joints to preserve the original look.
The whole tub making good progress. The rear part of the tub has had a new rear floor panel section with brace, rear and side panels and storage box base panels.
